An affluent Kensington and Chelsea Royal Borough district, West London, England is Kensington. Running on an axis that is east-west, Kensington High Street is the district's commercial heart. Where several streets of shops that are small to medium-sized and businesses for services are situated close to South Kensington tube station at South Kensington, is Kensington's second group of commercial buildings.

An area that is extremely affluent in general, a trait that with its south neighbour, Chelsea it shares, is Kensington. One of several hundred granted to Geoffrey de (Mowbray) Montbray, Normandy's Bishop of Coutances, by (1066-1089) King William the Conqueror one of post-Conquest England's wealthiest men and one of his advisors' inner circle, was the manor of Kensington in the county of Middlesex.
